3 Reasons Why You Need Headshots For Your Business

[Maybe delete that selfie profile pic (and get you some badass headshots)]

Listen to the audio version below!

Ok, I know, we live in the age of selfies. Our frontward facing cameras easily allow us to take 50 of the exact same pictures of ourselves so we can find that one perfect picture where you look 10 pounds lighter and have flawless (filtered) skin.

I get it! Selfies can be freeing! They can make you feel beautiful and confident. They allow you to feel in control of how you appear to others. And when you ask other people to take your picture they suck, right? They really can’t find that exact angle that makes you look like that beautiful diva you are. And, let’s face it, your boyfriend is THE WORST at taking a decent picture of you.

But when it comes to putting up that LinkedIn profile picture or your Facebook business page pic, or your business blog picture, or something where you are trying to market yourself, a selfie just doesn’t really cut it! Not anymore!

Competition is tough

I don’t know about you, but I feel like this globally-connected digital society has made life one big competition. Whether we are talking about getting a job, finding a date, creating a business, Youtube views, who has best cat memes, or who is the most environmentally friendly.  Everyone is trying to market their best selves to the web! Using professional quality headshots ensure your viewers that you take yourself or your business seriously and that you are keeping up with the competition. That means a lot to people who might purchase from you.

First impressions count

When you have a goal you need to accomplish and you need to send a message through social media, a profile picture is the first thing a new viewer is going to be drawn to.  Amiright?

Now, I’m not saying to go take down that adorable picture of you and your baby smooching! No way! But I am saying that if you have a business page, a LinkedIn page, or something where you need to appear at your best, a headshot is a good start to drawing your followers in.

Headshots are a great way to showcase your personality

Headshots don’t have to be stuffy! You know, those pictures where you’re in that sweet black blazer with shoulder pads, crossing your arms with a slightly tilted head and a no-teeth smile. Those are cool...BUT, um, this is Austin. We’re the town of weirdos and hippies and eco-conscious sandal wearers. Most businesses around here don’t even require you to wear buttoned pants anymore. Casual Friday is Casual Monday-Friday.

Ok, so it’s not like that everywhere. But, my point is, get you some headshots. Whether they are kickass-in-a-suit corporate pics or you sitting on a fence by a barn. Put your personality in it. Smile- with or without teeth. Whatever floats your boat. Your appearance to the web is important, even if you don’t want it to be.  What do you want your profile picture to say about you?
